This is the moment we are waiting for. This is what we call the honeymoon period, the first 100 days of the new president. After June 30, the country will witness whether there will be a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines) experience and if we will make it in what PNoy called the “Daang Matuwid” (Straight Path).

It seems that PNoy first three months in the office in somehow the same as a year of frustration for the nation. One big alibi of the current administration is pointing the finger to the previous administration of former president now Pampanga representative, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.  PNoy is somehow creating a so-called Truth Commission which will focus of the abuse of the previous Arroyo administration. This commission will investigate and now that Arroyo’s priveleges are limited even though she is an elected official, she have to face these charges against her. The new administration is really serious on searching for evidences that will scrutinize the immoral activities of Arroyo but PNoy will still face two thorns: Chief Justice Renato Corona and Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez. Both are Arroyo’s close allies and Aquino will have to abide on the power given to these individuals. As for Gutierrez, the Aquino allies are calling for her impeachment. Aside from her closeness to Arroyo, another issue that will put Gutierrez in grill is the Manila Hostage last August. The hostage scandal which involved a former police officer, Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza is requesting the Ombudsman to give justice to his removal in his position as a police officer after an extortion charges filed against him. Because of impatience caused by the non-listening Ombudswoman, Mendoza killed 8 Hong Kong national tourists which put the Philippines in the dark side of history. This create an impact especially in Hong Kong where there are many OFWs. Travel bans are issued one by one by different countries.  This hostage crisis is one of the big blows of the new administration.

Another thing about this administration are the malfunction of PNoy’s appointees in different Cabinet positions. Now the Aquino critics are going out saying that this shows the lack of Aquino’s leadership’s skills. The hostage crisis could not ended up that way if not for his personnel who are not united in one agenda. How come that PNoy will divide the function of DILG giving the local government to former Naga mayor Jesse Robredo while the interior which focuses on police force is to his close buddy and shooting mate Rico Puno (namesake of the  singer-defeated vice mayoralty candidate).  Now many are calling for the resignation of both Robredo and Puno. Another issue Puno will be facing is the jueteng scandal. A jueteng scandal even kicked a president out so that is why jueteng is another headache for this new administration. The issue of legalization of this form of gambling now come to an exist. Now the Senator Miriam Santiago will definitely point the gun to Puno and every Puno she will see, she will shoot. Santiago blames this stuff to that Puno guy. It just shows that PNoy would likely would ended up just like his mother the late president Cory who also did a lot of “utang na loob” by appointing close relatives and friends. As the communist leader, Joma concluded, by the way he sees it, PNoy could ended up just like his mother or ironically, just like his family’s former foe, Ferdinand Marcos, who by the way same as PNoy were elected as youngest presidents of this republic.

When PNoy went to New York for the UN summit, PNoy tried to changed the government image by carrying a little delegation with him. He even showed up in media just eating in a hotdog stand along with his personnel. One of the obvious personnel their is former Senator Mar Roxas who just like his father Gerry Roxas was defeated for the Vice Presidency. It seems that the Cabinet of the Aquinos are split between the Binay camp and Roxas camp and he can’t control it because he don’t have the hand on it.   Binay was also a close ally of his mother. Senator Joker Arroyo even cited that PNoy’s administration is just like a student council run by factions. Because of that factions, a lot of government departments were divided. Aside from the DILG, the communication group is somehow a department headed by three secretaries.  The major issues are neglected. Arroyo has a good point. PNoy was put in a situation where he even did not imagine ten years ago.

The hottest issue now of course is the Reproductive Health Bill. PNoy is a supporter of the RH Bill and now the Catholic church is also thinking whether they will excommunicate the devout catholic president. It even lead to a tourist guide to disturb a mass and called the modern priests today as the modern friars. Because of the population growth, many said that this is the reason why progress of economy is not being felt by the majority of the people. The population growth is a big factor in one country’s economy.

The Aquino administration is just quite new but its problems will still go and on. This government has to shape up. They have to show to Arroyo that they are not a bunch of student council.
